The moaning of the wind
called the clouds to attention.
It grumbled out commands
for the heavens to release their tension.
The sails swayed back and forth
as the raindrops grew heavy.
The lightning flashed
and the waters were no longer steady.
They were in the belly of the beast,
surrounded by rumbling thunder
and he wasn’t finished yet,
his hunger was only growing stronger.
The waters grew wilder
as the storms rage over took the sea.
The winds rocked their ship,
to the sky’s warning, they should have taken heed.
The sails waved
as the ship swayed
so all they could do was hold on and pray.
Hoping for mercy,
begging the lighting not to hit.
Willing the winds to cease
and for the down pour to quit.
