The stillness screams
in the agony of anticipation.
Quiet creeps
up your spine and chills your core.
Sound can often go unheard.
But silence-
Silence can invade your soul.
Sometimes when I’m alone
I Cry,
Cause I am on my own.
The tears I cry are bitter and warm.
They flow with life but take no form
I Cry because my heart is torn.
I find it difficult to carry on.
If I had an ear to confide in,
I would cry among my treasured friend,
but who do you know that stops that long,
to help another carry on.
The world moves fast and it would rather pass by.
Then to stop and see what makes one cry,
so painful and sad.
And sometimes…
I Cry
and no one cares about why.
This is quite profound, and absolutely true! Silence and silent things on the inside of us totally invade us, make us who we are on the outside, and yet very often others can’t see what rules in the centre. Sometimes the shortest poems can be the most memorable and striking – excellent poem!! π
Would you be interested in allowing me to publish this poem in the January/February issue of an online literary magazine of mine?
It currently has five issues (one new one every two months). There are no printed copies or any money involved for myself or the writers, and it’s free for anyone to read. The aim is primarily to help promote writers on websites and blogs from all over the internet. https://thewritinggarden.wordpress.com/
Copyright remains with the writer and I always include a link back to where the work was originally published and also any other social media links you’d like me to include (please let me know which ones – if you have any). You can be credited by your own name, your profile name, or both – it’s totally up to you.
If you would be interested in allowing me to publish your work please check out the magazine and let me know. But if you’d rather not, don’t hesitate to say no, I really won’t mind.

Thank you very much!! I’m really glad that you enjoyed it π and sure! It’d be an honor for you to publish it π I have Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. I’m on my phone, so I can’t really comment the links, but all the information is on my “Contact Me” page.
Thank you again!! π
That’s great news Allison! π And thanks for letting me know about your other pages, I’ve added them to my notes for your links.
January seems quite a long time to wait, I try to sort all the agreements for publishing as much in advance as I can as it takes a lot of time to arrange and create each issue. But you can be assured, as soon as it is published I’ll be back here to give you a link to the issue.
Thank you so much Allison for allowing me to publish this very thought provoking poem, I’m sure many others will relate to the understanding too. π

Well, silence has both side of it..
They say silence is the best answer but it can be worst if you are on the other side of it… Isn’t it??

Yeah, it really can both ways. Just depends on the situation I suppose.

Such a powerful piece! Sometimes silence really does scream the loudest. Maybe that’s why I always need to have some music playing in the background.

Speaking as someone who is deaf, I can attest to how silence can invade your soul… especially when you’re in a crowd of hearing people. Love this!
