The Storm

image

All the time I feel the air.
Breezing by, everywhere.
Can it feel me? Does it notice me?
Does anyone, anywhere really care to see?
Everywhere I go, there’s no feeling of space.
Free from the toxins that impale this place.
Gone are the times of solitude and innocence.
Here is the now, the age of dissonance.
I walk among the reckless and the recluse.
Just those who are already stuck in the noose.
Kindly floating by, observing society.
Listening to the lack of sincere propriety.
Missing their voice, which got caught in the wind.
Nothing’s right, we’re trying too hard to blend.
Only to discover it’s us who are the plague- blurring among the faces, all too vague.
People who fall to greed and lust,
Quiver so slightly in the air like dust.
Rising through the storm are the few.
Sickness has settled on us all like dew.
Trying to win this fight-
Useless among both the bright and the blight.
Vehemently stretching with no success,
Will never supply us with happiness.
X’ing through our heart’s true desires
Yearning for something behind the fires.
Zoning ourselves far, far away- seems much safer when you have too much to say.

  1. I love this…
“Here is the now, the age of dissonance.
I walk among the reckless and the recluse.”
    It’s great, keep it up.
I have some drafts like that, but I need to edit them or only I’d understand them hahaha, I still find mistakes in my posts. keep them coming, Blair.

    1. Haha, thanks! I just wrote the alphabet, then wrote a line out from each, whatever came to mind first. I didn’t have any certain subject I was trying to write about, just a challenge I did during my couple minutes of free time at work. I need to start editing before I post, but I don’t really have enough time in the day. So most of my poems are one draft and took 5-10 minutes at most.

    1. It was a really good exercise. You should try it! It really makes you think and you have to rework words quite a bit to make it flow and make sense, lol. And thank you!

  2. Umm I wanted to ask you something. Rather silly, but still. How did you get an old post of yours to reappear on the reader?
Like you have written it earlier, but here it is showing that you uploaded it two hours ago, how did you do it?
I’ll really appreciate your help. Thank you!

    1. You go to your posts, and change it to draft, then update it. Then, change it to publish and change the date and time you want it to be posted. I don’t know if there’s an easier way or not. Haha
      And no problem!

          1. When I do that, it shows up under blogs I follow, but not under the tags. I think that was the problem I had before. But when i change it to Draft and back to publish, it reposts like it’s never been posted before.

    1. Thank you! I love the more archaic forms of poetry. This is actually the fist full poem I had ever written and it’s by far my favorite. I don’t think I’ll ever top it hahaha. I’m glad you like it 🙂

    1. Yeah, I need to give it a shot again. It was one of my first attempts at poetry and I needed something to help me get started. It had absolutely no meaning as I wrote it and I went back and read it and just thought to myself, “wow, it makes sense” haha. Thank you, I’m glad you like it! 🙂

  5. For far too long I’ve seen your quiet observation of my posts and simultaneously not bothered to read yours. Not purposely. Now in reading I see I’ve robbed myself of some fine poetry. I’d like to sum up how impressed I am with your ability to convey thoughts, emotions, etc. Alas I’m speechless. Which is a great imposition for a writer, but in this instance a welcome state. For silence best conveys awe whilst allowing for more reading. 🙂
