My spine is slowly shrinking
into a constant crouch.
With a curved back
and hunched shoulders,
I resolve into myself.
Cowering away from the surrounding forces
beckoning me near,
I wear this yellow spine
and flushed red cheeks
to disguise me from myself.
For if I lifted my lowered face,
and looked into the world,
I may discover something
about them- about us-
that I never wished to find.
This is great writing…the description of becoming absorbed into introversion is wonderful…sometimes it’s easier to live within ourselves than to witness the realities of our lives…

Thank you very much! And exactly, if we stay within ourselves, there’s no chance of us seeing parts of others, or ourselves, that we don’t want to know exists.

“Discovering something…that I never wished to find.” Wow. Great reminder how life is not always as I want it to be.

Such truth to this. It is sad to see our world turning inward so rapidly. I guess that’s why I love blogging. It almost seems like the only place where strangers can become friends these days.

I must have missed this comment a few months ago. But I agree. People are rude and ignore others on person. It seems like an online presence is the only way anyone takes any notice of others.
