It’s 3 a.m. and my body is awake
but my mind is dreaming
of ways to escape–
Escape these feelings
that have caged me inside,
that have slowly stolen
any hope I ever had.
So I’m left, lying here
in a prison
of pillows and sheets,
surrounded by comfort
that I can’t seem to reach.
Have a bg hug from my teddy bear, Marmaduke.

Thank you. I’ve been unable to sleep most nights the past few weeks. I just can’t stop thinking.

Hopefully all will work out in good time. Maybe sharing your experience will help calm your thoughts.

I’m hoping so. I eventually fell asleep last night after writing and posting this, so it may have helped 🙂

powerful writing. sleep can be a very lonely experience. and lack of sleep even more so…

Thank you, and you’re exactly right. I can’t stand being up at 3 or 4 am, wanting to sleep, having nothing else to do to pass the time, then being so tired all day long.

A word to the rescue
to me you can beseech,
These worries of yours
are now mine to keep.
Difficult to find
and hard to reach.
So I take them
And you can go to sleep.

Have you tried sleeping in a different room?

I’ve slept in 4 different rooms while my room was being renovated and just got got a new bed. It’s my mind, not my surroundings I’m pretty sure.

Would you be willing to describe your bedtime routine? Are there lots of electrical items in your room? What’s the temperature like? What do you do before you go to bed?

The brain has a way of determining its own bedtime and more often than not, the body seems to be in disagreement as to what that time should be.

The bane of a writer. Thoughts never go to sleep. Even exhausted, we are constantly seeing words. Hope you get a good night’s sleep soon! Happy New year!
