About a month and a half ago,Ā Laine Anne TheodoreĀ nominated me to do a timed writing challenge. Ā I just had the time this morning to finally write my piece.
My prompt was:
You are speaking to a group of young adults at a writerās workshop. Share with them what writing means to you, and any advice you have that may encourage them to follow their own dreams as writers.
***
Words are personal. They can express your emotion, share your story, or offer your opinions. Often, people strive to be like the greats in their field, but with writing, that isn’t an option. The only great you can become is yourself. No two people will ever have the same voice, or the same view because no two people are the same. Everyone is different, everyone has something different to say, and everyone will say it in a different way.
Writing can ignite a fire, or put the flames out. When brought to life, words hold more power than any army could ever possess. It gives voice to the words you can’t speak and it immortalizes thoughts you wish to keep. To me, writing is much more than scribbling some array of letters and symbols on a piece of paper- It’s a way to tell everyone what I think and who I am. I write for love, for passion, and for tranquility. I love words and what they can entail, I have a passion to express what I need the world to know, and it clears my mind and puts my soul to ease. Nothing is more satisfying than finally having your thoughts heard when you felt like no one was listening.
Donāt feel ashamed to turn your abstract ideas into concrete expressions. Donāt tell yourself that youāre not good enough or that your thoughts arenāt worth it. The only bad writer is the one who never writes. Keep thinking, keep feeling, keep writing. Maybe your words will be the ones to change the world.

I gave myself 10 minutes, and in that time frame I got 264 words. I tend to focus my writing more on quality than quantity, so I spent too much time trying to phrase things well rather than raising my word count. But, I got most of what I wanted to say, said and that’s what matters.
These are the rules:
1. Open an MS Word Document.
2. Set a stop watch or your mobile phone timer to 5 or 10 minutes, whichever challenge you think you can beat.
-Your topic is at the foot of this post BUT DO NOT SCROLL DOWN TO SEE IT UNTIL YOU ARE READY WITH YOUR TIMER!!!
3. Fill the word doc with as much words as you want. Once you start writing do not stop.
-Do not cheat by going back and correcting spelling and grammar using spell check (its only meant for you to reflect on your own control of
sensible thought flow and for you to reflect on your ability to write the right spelling and stick to grammar rules)
-You may or may not pay attention to punctuation or capitals. However, if you do, it would be best
4. At the end of your post write down āNo. of words = ____ā so that we would have an idea of how much you can write within the time frame.
5.Do not forget to copy paste the entire passage on your blog post with a new topic for your nominees and copy paste these rules with your nomination (at least five (5) bloggers).
So, I nominate:
1. Danica Aquino
2. Malvika
3. EllieĀ
4. Veira Reign
5. Insight07
6. And anyone who wants to participate!

What inspires you to write what you do? Whether it be positive/negative thoughts, fiction, life experiences, etc. Did something/someone in your life spark that desire or do you just have a passion for that genre? Also, have you ever wrote or ever wanted to write something that was completely different from what you usually write? If you did write it, how did it go? If you didn’t, why did you choose not to?
